    Default DD Hand Forged

    Got this blade only.
Cleaned it up and repurposed some bone scales:

Hand Forged was one of my first Ducks. I would say it's one of my favorites but then they all are :<0)

Cool you put it in bone. Most I see, come that way and I suspect that is their natural state.

    Thanks pups.
It seems these were done with bone scales.
It was that or ebony. Lol
Figured I would try and keep this one close to original.
Still have to hone it but I am SURE it will shave like a duck....GREAT.

Very nice bone. Prepared very well. Nicely done.

How do they get the DD icons in the hammered steel?

Most likely they use a negative punch that is either pressed or struck into the hot steel. If the tang was soft the steel would not necessarily have to be hot.

What Mike said. I chisel in my marks, using a chisel I made from an old piece of file.
I do that cold, on my workbench after I am ready with grinding and shaping.
If the steel is annealed properly, punching it in cold should pose no big problems.

Not sure I've seen a forged tang like that before, I like it though. The scales go well with that blade.
