Josh. Mappin & Brothers ca 1848-1853
Just finished this one up. It's a Josh. Mappin & Brothers Queens Cutlery Sheffield. This stamp was used from 1851-1853 near as I can tell. The Josh. Mappin & Brothers stamp dates from 1848 but according to what I can find the Queens Cutlery location started in 1851 which puts this razor in that time frame.
Finished in a two-tone Crocus polish with vintage restored black horn scales and brass domed washers with nickel silver pins. Hope you like it...

Thanked: 1184It does look familiar ? Oh yeah, had it in my hand yesterday. The pics don't do it justice. The attention to detail isn't showing like I know it's there. Perfect job Mike :<0)

Thanks Tom...always good to hear your thoughts. And...it's probably 'familiar' because they have one just like it in the 'Sharptonnville Museum'!
Thanks Grazor! I can just picture someone in the year 2165 finding this in the wild and doing a restore on it! I love that...
... You're my razor sounding board Pups! I appreciate it my good friend...
Thanks Daryl! I'll be stropping it up (progressively...of course!) tonight for a post-resto shave...HAR!

Well, let us know about the shave! I have a few of those tapered-style blades and never tried one. Might be time?
