This one was a little rough with odd pins, the one side being peened round and the other folded over, and some simple soft wood for scales.
Now in dark brown horn and a brushed finish on the blade. The wedge is honey horn but doesn't really show it's lighter color.

I used 400 grit on the buffer for the final finish. It seems to hide the remaining pits while looking nice.
It's about the same as you get with Hart Steel satin finish.
A little out of focus but you should get the point.

Nice job! Smactenberg Bros are very good steel. This one seems later, but they go back a long way.

    very nice work Hart

I like the point grind on it gives it a half square round point blade but with a French point face
    a bit of everything LOL

like the original motto but "wood scales = use nails"

It was originally a little more French pointed as you can see in the first pics. Unfortunately there was a big pit in it and I lost a little.

Nice work. Too bad you couldn't salvage those original pins.

Beautiful job! The thing I like about using a lower grit to get that matte finish to hide some irremovable flaws is that is it is done with patience and care it not only helps to hide these flaws but can almost resemble original grind lines.
Awesome solution to the tip pit issue as well, again beautiful job!
