Thread: Tuckmar in G10

Love the way these shave

No steel work

Scales are Gold G10 @ .090" thickness
Wedge is Double Black Linen Micarta @.050" at the end
Pins and Washers are solid Brass

Basically I was aiming to get it as close to the old originals as possible but using modern materials..

Considering it slides right back into the original box it must be close

When I actually measured the original celluloid scales they were .110" thick so I went just a touch less, their wedge was .030 at the end however, could not match that and get it right

As always...... stunning! No stabilizers, bet this one really sings when it shaves. I have an Othello that is almost the exact same blade.

That's beautiful work Glen. Where do you buy your G10 in the US? I can't find that color in Australia and the Chinese manufacturers want you to buy it in 100kg minimum lots - that'd be one heck of a lot of scales!

That's my razor--I can't wait to shave with it. I bought it because the blade was in good shape, actually surprisingly good shape considering the condition of the scales. Looking at the pictures, I know I'll be quite happy with it (once I get used to the round point).

That micarta has a slightly translucent quality to it. I don't believe I've seen that before. It actually seems similar to some of the old horn scales. Looks great.

I've been wanting to see more of this. I think it looks great keeping the original shape/style, but using new/modern materials.
