    Default Plated Greaves ?

What do you think? Looks plated but from what I've read it's too old to have been. $17 ebay smash-n-grab.

It's just the way the rust lies. If you can get it for that price grab it, before I do.

It needs a little work but the lines are in good shape. They so often get blown out over time with honing and regrinding. It will make a great project razor and a nice keeper. The price is great too. They don't come around looking that good for that kind of money too often. Looks like the scales are in good shape too.

I don't think it's plated. The finishes on some of those old razors can be really impressive.

Again, hope yall are right. If not, I'll make the best of it I suppose. Either way I will update with pictures when it arrives.

I popped into eBay last night to buy some scale material and came across this. I thought the same thing about the price and condition and hesitated because it had been listed for a few hours with a really low BIN.

What makes you think it's plated?

Yep it is shiny surface coming off in rust flakes. But not that bad at all. Nice grab !
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
