8/8 suminagashi razor in shokwood scales
This is an 8/8 razor which is an adaptation of one of my own designs. The scaloped spine was a bit tricky to do. The scales are deep space showkwood, which is impregnated burl wood with colored resin. It is a seamless whole. I really like how it looks, though the sheen is less glossy than acrylic. I don't like working it as much as I like kirinite, because it creates very fine dust that gets everywhere. Aside from mounting forced air exhaust in the near future, and dust collection, I am also thinking about an extra bandsaw in the shed outdoors to saw that kind of stuff outside.
In any case, this is the end result:
Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Very nice. The scales are amazing too.

Thanked: 228Beautiful and I would love to have one like it. In saying that, I am on lock down right now as I have overspent myself. Imagine that!

I had one shave with it, and it was good. I just heard back from the customer, and he was very happy too. I put the same level of care into each razor I make, no matter the price. But with high end prices, the expectations may be higher so I am always a bit nervous until I've heard from the customer after the first shave.

Excellent work. Now clearly visible transition from dark to light.
