I have an old Marsden but the original scales apparently got broke & someone from long ago made some out of wood so I just left it as is for now. You can tell the homemade scales were made long ago & they have a name on them. It looks like it says 401 Watertown on the scales. If I remember right, I got it from Silverloaf off the bay a few years ago. I'm surprised I found it so quick but I have a lot of them in boxes labeled what is in each.

For me, working with scales is lots more fun!
Can't agree more. I've got a number of blades simply set aside for when I have the money to pay to have the blade worked on, so that I can make the scales, which IMO is the fun part.
Also, IMO the restoration of old horn scales seems easy at first, but is more of a challenge to get right than custom scales.. Takes acquired skills that one doesn't typically just jump into this hobby already knowing, subtleties that are not as easy as simply learning about wedge angle, material thicknesses, ideal dimensions, etc.
For example, Sharptonn and Outback may outline in a thread how to restore old horn, but then I go to do so and discover numerous hurdles that could not be explained without many pages of step by step.. And still the elusive subtleties persist.

Wow! Excellent, just excellent. Really neat razor and scales. Well saved.
