Thanked: 3Japanese Omega - My first set of Scales
This is Japanese str8 that I've picked up here in Okinawa; this is my 3rd restoration, and my first set of scales.. I expected to be putting the original scales back on, but they changed my mind form me during the de-pinning process. ...
Any help on manufacturer would be great.. Perfect Works... Omega brand...
Anyway.. The scales are from some cheap Alder I picked up at the local Makeman (Monkey Man) the local home depot of sorts.. Finished with homemade Danish Oil, of natural varnish/BLO/turpentine and a splash of walnut stain... Afterwords I honed on a norton 4k/8k finished by a Naniwa 12k using the pyramid process, a also used slurry using the flattening stone to make, as part of the initial cutting on the stone when I stepped up.. .. .. Then stropped on diamond paste and leather... Resulted in a buttery smooth shave... One of the best I've had and for a large 6/8, it gets into the nooks pretty good...
So here it went...

Great job! Especially on first.
Ive got a Cape 650 from Perfect Works. Seems to have great steel, and is very sturdy even though blade is so hollow thin. Seems like a quality manufacturer.
Thats a beauty! I want one, cool name too

Thanked: 3Mike,
If you could post a pick of your Cape 650 that would be cool... The Omega is pretty stout, it's thicker than my TI and longer as well.. I almost have to do an x on my Big Daddy Strop... LOL..
