    Default John Shaw 8/8

I picked this up not too long ago off ebay for the bargain BIN price of $45.

I was quite surprised when I got it to see that the blade was a little bit over 8/8. Even after tidying up the edge and honing it, it still came in at 25.6mm.
Anyway after lots of hand sanding and buffing, this is the result. Unfortunately the original scales couldn't be saved so I fitted a set made from polished bone.

Nice piece John, I'll see if I can find something like it at Nambour tomorrow (Collectorama - hope to see you there).

Yes, I'll be there. Not sure if I'll find any razors but worth having a look I think.

The work is impressive, the razor handle also looks great.

Beautifully done! Glad you respected the original design and spirit of the razor as opposed to some of the asymmetrical "modern" acrylic monstrosities we see too often.
