    mycarver, tell us, if you don't mind, how you left the etching so crisp...

    Fortunately this one was pretty good to start. But one thing is to not sand using just your fingers backing up the paper. Use something fairly firm that wil bridge over the etch and not round off the crisp edges of the etch.
    Next is to start with as high a grit as possible. Keep working up from there to limit the time spent on a buffer ( 1-2 passes) to get some shine to it. Buffers just round over and kill etches.
