    Default Wosti IXL in BlackWood

I was given this project blade by fellow member MikeT for something to keep me busy over the winter. He also sent me a pair of blackwood blanks that were matched. So I kept the blanks aligned and came up with a design of scales that complimented the original spine and tang shape, exposes the makers mark, and also fits well in the hand. Went as thin as I thought safe, made the wedge from a coin clad in brass shim stock to get the closing height I wanted and used bullseye washers as it is a pre 'England' stamped razor.

Honed up slowly and has a heck of a smile. Really hard steel to get an edge back on. Needed to really become proficient at the rolling X.
    Cheers.

    Awesome work Mike.

Love the scales and the uniqueness of using a coin as a wedge.

The Wosty IXL is one of the classic razors that I would dearly love to get hold of and add to my collection.
