Back from the dead
It's been awhile since I had one this rough. Not near as rough as Wolfpacks anchor razor but pretty ugly just the same. Lots of deep pitting. A forging flaw runs through the makers mark and into the blade. Not much I could do with that. Still some pitting left on the tang to retain the stamp. I chose a glaze type finish for the blade and a crocus type finish for the spine and tang. I have a couple of FBU's in my collection with originals finishes like that. Black horn scales, lead wedge and beehive collars are also copies of originals.
I believe this is one of the earlier Wade & Butcher FBU's. It is 15/16 and has a short tang and a very thick spine measuring .300 at the toe. A heavy blade. It probably started life as an 8/8. I used 2 layers of tape to hone it. The bevel came out small and even. Chosera 1K,5K, 12K Naniwa and several strokes on CrO on felt.
