Default Bengall shorty with blonde horn scales

While I was cleaning this one up I dropped it and snapped the thin end of the toe off, which was actually fortunate. When I examined the broken piece it was obvious a majority of the crack line was dirty and had been there for some time. So, shorty it is! Name: shorty6.jpg

Nice workmanship but as I look at it something is wrong. After some thought I think that the toe is to square and looks broken. Maybe if the profile of the original was copied?

I also like the shortened razors, they are very comfortable.

I'll have a think about that, I could still reshape it to the original. The thing I'm unhappy with is the shape of the scales. I bought them as two pressed blanks and the curvature on them was too great. You can see in the pictures that the curve doesn't follow the razor, but it was even worse on a full-sized razor. Still, it gave me a chance to work with blonde horn for the first time and learn a few new things. Interestingly, after I had assembled the razor, I put it in hot water and centred the scales. In the last photo you can see a grainy sort of pattern in the horn, that actually formed an embossed pattern after hot water treatment.
