Default A Case& Sons and a A.W. Wadsworth and sons XLNT

So I picked these two up from the bay for restoration. The Case has me a bit stumped and hope that some of you with more Case knowledge can shed some light. The case is a Preparedness and has a round point, the odd thing is it seems short,as in maybe someone reground the toe.I've given it a good examination and if it was reground it was a long time ago due to the patina perfectly matching the spine. What caused me to put some thought to this is the fact that there is a large gap between the wedge and the end of the blade. Was this a common thing for manufacturers to do so all end product would be the same and packaging would be simple or has this blade been reduced in lenghth ?
