I don't think I have seen one of your remarkable restores without rounding over the edges of the scales. It might be the pics, but they look like they have an angle at the edge....am I seeing things funny...it wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks all you guys! I appreciate the nice comments...
Here you go Tommy Boy...
The edges of the scales have a very slight bevel to them WW243...I made the scales very thin like Ivory scales and put a small angle on the edge to soften the edge and give a contrast to the red color of the top. With this horn materiel you have to do all the work on the back side because of the dyed color. Otherwise the red dye will be sanded away. You also have to use a non-abrasive polish when you shine them up.Lupus Cohors - Appellant Mors !

That's a really neat old blade with those scallops.
The red dyed horn is fooling my eye. By the looks of the pics I would have guessed cocobolo.
I love the domed collars.
All in all....Stunning!!

Thanks Martin! The red horn is really attractive...especially with a big blade... but it is not easy to work with, because the dye used to color the horn only goes so deep. As I said you have to do all the sanding on the back side of the horn and carefully polish the surface.
