Default 13/16" custom straight razor with camel bone scales

This custom razor made for a nice mate of SRP, petercp4e. It was very hard to work with camel bone, but I am satisfied with the result. I hope he will pleased to it also.

    • 13/16" (21mm) wide blade
    • Quarter hollow grind
    • Camel bone scales with acrylic wedge

    • Nickel-silver wedge/spacer pin with stainless steel washers
    • Adjustable stainless steel pivot pins

Lovely work Gregg! I am sure Peter will love it. I especially love the 'throwback style of the notched nose or toe'. I recently finished a restore on a old Wade and Butcher with that style of point.

Boy..I have to say that I'm really anxious for this to make its way across the pond and into my hands!!
What a pleasure it was going through the design process with gregg71. He is a true professional in every sense of the word. He kept me well informed every step of the way with suggestions, drawings and pictures and made it an extremely enjoyable process. I can't thank him enough!! I think the final result speaks for itself. The blade and it's point design, the camel bone scales, the pinning and the translucent blue acrylic wedge look awesome. The hard part now is the wait....which I'm sure will be well worth it!

What did you find hard about working with camel bone?

I've been thinking about trying my hand with it and was hoping to get some insider secrets as it were...

Hard to grind because of the hardness. Can not be grinding on high speed because it burns. Very stinky during this process.
The surface treatment is not easy either because of the porous. That's all.

Beautiful straight razor. Nice flow of steel and bone. Pete is going to be a very happy shaver.

I love the shape of the blade, it reminds me of a fancy sports car, flowing and sleek.
