Thanked: 851095 Pistol Razor
Greetings everyone,
Here are some photos of the most unusual razor I have made to date.
A customer asked for a straight razor with a handle shaped like a Colt 911. I had no idea how I was going to accomplish that, but I said I would make an attempt. I eventually decided that I would model my handle scales on an AMT Hardballer Long slide. (I needed the extra slide length to enclose the razor blade.) I downloaded and cut out a photo of the AMT, then attached it to some black G10 using rubber cement. I then cut out and shaped the two handle scales. Next, I used a scribe to trace the lines of the pistol onto the G10. I initially considered trying to carve the scales more deeply but, when the customer said she liked the scales as is, I took the easy road.
Hopefully, Dave liked the razor.

Thanked: 4826It looks like it is going to be fairly annoying to strop, but my guess is it is not going to be a daily driver either. Given the design you were asked for I have to say that is a pretty stelar job.

Now I can say with confidence - I have seen all in my life.
Nevertheless, work is an unusual and interesting, and if the client wanted this, then why not.If something is unclear in the text, please correct me ......

I'm shocked. I have not seen a razor for such performance.

Thanked: 85Thanks guys!
RezDog, it wasn't nearly as bad to strop as I thought it would be. It's also not as difficult to hold while shaving as you might expect. Of course, like you mentioned, he probably won't be using it every day. I've never met the guy who it was purchased for, so I don't even know if he knows how to use it.
