I've used it on about a dozen knives and this was the first razor,I never thought it hard to work with.What was it that was giving you trouble ?

The hardness of the bone itself and ensuring it was flat on the inside scales. The other issue I found was the lack of flexibility - I like to get the scales to bow. In the end I probably didn't take the scales down to the correct thickness, therefore they felt clumsy and off balance so I decided against using the material again.
