Default Hank Knickmeyer damascus in blue glow in the dark scales

While I was in Missouri, Lynn and I visited ABS master smith Hank Knickmeyer and his wife Bonita. The Damascus for this razor came from a broken off knife point I got from him. It was large enough to forge a razor to I tried out a new design I'd drawn up some time ago. The idea was to have a design that would work both as a normal razor and as a fixed handle design without modifications. I didn't know what the pattern would be like beforehand, but I am happy with how it turned out. This is also what Hank uses as the core for his knives.

For the scales I used blue glow in the dark which is pale white in light environments, and beautiful cobalt blue in the dark.

I like the pattern and especially the traditional design of the blade. I once saw a photo of an old wedge, Sheffield IIRC, and it was hanging on a nail in the wall by the washtub the fellow shaved out of. (very primitive setup) If that were my razor, I would do that, no fooling, hang it from a nail for easy access.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks. That was sort of the idea. It doubles as a weight savings, because the hole is quite large (8 mm which is about 3/8"). Additionally, if it were used as a fixed handle razor, the hole would enable you to hang it or mount it in a stand securely.

That's really beautiful damascus. Personally I like a razor that I can get more than one finger on the tail while shaving, so it's right up my alley.
What I'd really like to see, I know that it might be hard, is a picture of it glowing cobalt blue in the dark.
    Another great razor!

I'll give it a try tomorrow or so. It's close to 1 am so got to go get some sleep.
The color part is easy enough: put it underneath a spotlight for a minute and turn off the light. The hard part is getting the camera to focus in the dark.

Another superb razor Bruno.Really like the versatility. Will you be finishing it with a micro-fastener at the tail?
