Thanked: 35Greaves and Elliot
Hello All,
Here are two blades which were sent to our own karlj (Karl Johnson). I just love working with him as he seems to know exactly what is needed and is always so helpful and patient with my seemingly endless questions.
First is the Greaves which we used the original scales. He soaked them in neatsfoot for a while and they seemed to come up beautifully. The blade was taken to a satin finish on the face and crocus on tang, tail and spine. Just beautiful. Here are before and afters:
Secondly a beautiful Joseph Elliot which had new black horn scales made, but the blade needed only Karl's expert honing talents. Jimps on top and bottom of this blade which Karl thought was a bit rare. A very dense and heavy blade.
It is interesting how similar the blades are in shape.
Both of these shave like a dream. Thank you Karl!
best,
