Default 7/8" with DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating and Lightning strike carbon scales

    Hi,

I would like to present you a razor we have recently made.
It was a custom order and the customer wanted a dark coated blade.

The result is the following 7/8" straighr razor with 1/4 hollow grind, decorated spine, coarse serrations, special point, mirrorpolished blade and silk finished tang. The scales are made of lightning strike carbon.
The blade is DLC coated, which is a special carbon coating with a very high hardness and wear resitance. It mimics the finish of the coated surface and is absolutely stainless.

    Here are some pics:

    best regards,
    Ulrik

    Beautiful razor!
    I love the "dark" theme.

The design is not my cup of tea, but that coating is quite intriguing.

What is the steel used in the blade? Did you hone the blade before the DLC coating?

Funny thing, I feel like a dunce ....... until I read the title to this thread I didn't know that DLC meant 'diamond like coating,' and I own a Razorock Stealth DLC ..........

Can the edge be masked before the DLC coating is applied, the way that some do Damascus before acid etching ?

Thank you all for your great feedback!

gregg71: The wedge is made of nickelsilver.

Mike Blue: The steel used is DIN 1.2210 (AISI L2) The razor is honed after coating using a diamond stone to set the bevel.

JimmyHAD: I think it can be masked, but normaly it is not necessary.

    Best regards,
