    Default Wester Bros. No.16 Restoration

I'm a big fan of Wester Bros razors. They aren't usually very fancy but the blades are very well made, easy to hone, and take a great edge. I sanded the blade with a sleeveless sanding drum, starting out at 220 grit to get the pitting out. I went up to 1k, then took it to the buffer. The front scale looked a little too Christmasy with the red ribbon so I went with blue on the back. If I were to do it again, I would use a lighter shade of blue for the ribbon on both sides. Turned out nice. It does look like something Mrs. Clause would get Nick for his birthday. Makes me wonder..Do Father Claus and his bride celebrate Xmas? I mean talk about woking for the holidays.

Nice job on the restoration, the blade looks really good. And hey, Christmas looking scales come in really handy for December SOTD's. +1 on Wester Bros., I only have one but I love it for the same reasons you stated.

Nicely done! I have two Wester Bros. razors and they both take a great edge and give wonderful shaves.

Thanks Rez. I'm doing all my sanding with the sleeveless drums these days. I haven't used greaseless on the buffer for several months. I recently got a 1" sleeveless drum that is perfect for full hollows. You can work right up to the the spine without rounding anything out the way greaseless would.
