Thread: Snailforge standard in Damascus and orange juma

That orange juma is a neat looking material. That Damascus, wow, terrific patterning in it. And a classic shaped razor. Hat trick of happy shaving right there. The owner is a lucky gent.

That's a classic, signature design that definitely lets everyone know the blade comes from Snail Forge. I love the double thumb-notches, spine geometry, and especially the orange scales. And those spinky ends demand a shaver's full attention or a bit of muting as Sharptonn has already noted.

I never really understood what layaway is about. I know it is a thing in the US, but what is the difference between layaway and plain saving up for something and then just buying it?

Lay-A-Way was often used to get buyers to purchase an item that is 'On Sale' or at a Reduced Price. Typically the buyer can have the seller hold the item for a specified amount of time and the buyer can make payments without any interest until the item is paid for.

With that said, I haven't seen any outlets offering this for a while and I for one have never used it. It just makes sense to save up your funds until you can purchase what you want. But there again, I'm very old fashioned. Today's purchasing public would just whip out the credit card and say 'Charge It'! Then make payments with interest for the rest of their lives.

Lay away was also a great way to claim dibs on items that might sell out before you saved up all the money to buy them outright.
Did that a few times in the 80s myself..a certain used econoline van comes to mind.

Now that you mention an automobile-----------I guess that I have used Lay-A-Way----------when I bought my first car ('56 Sedan with a 327-4 speed-4:11's with Posi etc) I didn't have the $800 that the seller wanted but he took the $200 that I had, and WE wrote down the mileage and HE parked it. It only took about a month to finish paying for that car. Some of the best $800 dollars I ever spent! GOD, those were the days!
