Thanked: 12Thank you for the input. The scales are wider than the width of the tang, however as far as honing, stropping, or use it really isn't uncomfortable or awkward to hold. I just measured the tang and the width and there is only .018 difference. The tang is .420 wide and the scales around the pin are .438. The tang is wide and that was on purpose, for me when holding the razor, a wider tang is more comfortable and give me more stability because there is more to grasp. This is just something that I have for that works for me personally.

Thanked: 12Thank you kindly for the compliments! The only calibrated tool I use is a set of calipers to mark center lines. I do use different thicknesses of steel depending on the size of the razor that I am making. If I am making 7/8-8/8 I use 1/4 inch stock, if the razor is going to be 6/8-13/16 I use 7/32 inch stock and 5/8 I will use 3/16. I like to try to have a little more material that needed so that it gives me a cushion for any of that rarely (sarcastic) made mistakes

Very nice looking razor with clean lines. I agree with the comments above regarding the scales, but overall, it's a very attractive razor.
