    Default Poor Man's Grelot

This Simmons Keen Cutter had a nasty chip on the end of the blade, in addition to some thick patina and light pitting. In pursuit of a razor I will never afford, I fashioned myself this "poor man's Grelot."

I'd take it over the real thing.

    Thanks for looking!

A thing of beauty! Is it a pain to stop with that thin tang?

Nah. I go slow enough on a strop that i can just put a thumb/finger on the blade itself for more stability.

That's a mighty interesting pin job! What the heck, if it works and you're happy with it.........that's all that counts!

Thanks! I've already been heckled about getting some real pins, but I need to use up my stock of bolts first. In my mind, this method is easier, and works really good (threads+glue+wood=pretty solid lock up).

I might just be justifying things, but I think it looks "tight" too.
