Sommer 14
Some nice hand-carved bone scales from Shaun (Rezdog) have finally found a blade!
Worked on it a bit down in the workshop subforum lately.
Pinned-up with a vintage lead wedge along with some neat silver collars from the nice gent in Romania, the pins are bronze and will mellow to a different color after time.
(Looks like I need to polish those some more and some work on the wedge end.... First finished pics...You know! )
Anyhoo, a 15/16 Leopold Sommer Rondinella 14.
He sold out to Walter Koniger in 1940 and was listed in business in 1932, so definitely pre-war. Almost nothing done to the blade on this one. It was once Bill Barber's razor back when, so it holds special significance for me.
Just came off the hones!

Very nice! Cool scales and one of Pixel's razors, too.

Thanked: 580He did like those 14's. Turned out very nice.
I suspect he would have said something like "Holy crap, why didn't you use Ivory!!!"Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown ~ Jim Morrison

Thanks, John! Sort of indirectly from Pixel. Funny story. It's been around!
I bought it and another 14, a Cuf, from the same guy.
Showed them in the '14' club.
Next day, Bill PM's me and sez 'HEY! Those were MY razors!'
'I traded them for a Palmera!'
The Cuf went to a friend.
This one has been sitting here for many years. Honed-up nicely. Trying to grow some whiskers as we speak!Last edited by sharptonn; 10-23-2017 at 03:48 AM.

Thanked: 580I should add Rezdog's scales just get better and better. Those pins and washers top them off.
