    Default DD Grim Reaper Restoration

    Hi Guys,

Inspired by the DD Grim Reaper Rebuild article, I've put finger to keyboard.

A razor enthusiast in Australia sent me a few razors to restore and hone and one was a fine DD Grim Reaper.

The razor wasn't too bad at all, so I decided to just sympathetically restore. After removing the blade and polishing, I turned my attention to the scales. The Gold plating had worn off the detailing, showing the copper beneath. Once polished, it looked really nice against the scale material, the problem though, it would quickly tarnish.

Now, some of you may know that I also restore safety razors, so have plating equipment to hand.

For the Grim Reaper, I mixed up some Rose Gold solution and applies to the detailing, the result was very pleasing. Rose Gold, depending on the mix, looks very much like polished copper.

    Here's some pics anyway.

That square tip got me right in the ear when test driving after honing. Grim Reaper alright!!

Nice work around to avoid having to polish and wax.
It looks sharp. They are a somewhat of a rare blade and to have two restores show up on the forum on the same day is nothing shy of amazing.
    Nice work.
