Hargreaves, Smith & Co. "Imperial" restoration
I finished up a little restoration project I've been doing and wanted to share it with you guys. It's a Hargreaves, Smith & Co. Imperial Razor that I've had in the to-do pile for a couple years. I disassembled it back then...
I was planning on reusing the scales but then I remembered what I didn't like about them... They are way too long for this blade. There's almost a 3/4 inch gap between the end of the blade and the wedge. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with them, I'll save them for a better fitting blade. Here's the old scales pictured below with the blade... little too long IMHO.
So I made new horn scales and a new lead wedge, pinned together using nickel silver domes (Austin's) and bronze (yes, bronze) pins from down Texas way. Honed up and finished on a yellow-green thuringian. Thanks for looking...

Well done, sir. Well done! The finish on the blade looks fantastic. Nice idea with the silver and bronze pinning.

A beautiful razor, nicely restored. I can see why you changed the scales... a much more balanced look.

Thanked: 89Phenomenal work per usual! Seriously, do you ever make a mistake? The trademark satin finish is spectacular as always--I really like how it makes the lines of the razor stand out. Just grand!
