    Default Chaize Maillot re-scale

Finished up this Chaize Maillot re-scale with ebony and ivory. The Gabon ebony was not so easy to work with. With this thin profile it becomes quite brittle and does not allow much flexing.

The Gabon ebony takes a nice finish, inside of scales are high polish. Wedge needs less taper so not to flex scales too much.

Don’t ask how I know…. Doubt I’ll be using Gabon ebony for scales anymore, need to find some nice honey horn. Now to hone up and test shave..

Nice work, Mike-Too bad about the crack. I've got a Fox Cutlery in the same wood. I left mine a little thicker, so far no crack. I love horn too, though it has it's own idiosyncrasies as you know.
