Thanks, Rez. It has kept me busy!
In spite of not doing much, it took a long time to do!
Here's the money-shot. One layer of tape.....
Such a nice (rough!) regrind was done.

I don't know which is more impressive - the skills to produce that bevel or the skills to produce that picture of the bevel.

    Its nothing...Really.!!
    Hone enough restored blades....you'll see.

Not to cut into your thread,Tom. But I honed up the Frederick, and it has a itsy bitsy bevel.

Really had to play with the lighting to get the pic.

HAR! I coulda put more tape on the spine, Mike!
Your rattler seems to have little wear on it!
It always amazes me at the worn things bringing so much coin.
    A good bevel is key....

Seriously, I have a 1 layer rule. I wear-in a layer and then add one. Wear that one in!
Change it, but leave the worn bottom one there. Most I go.

This one is 1 layer honed blade. Changed as-needed.
A bit wide for a newer Solinger, but not so bad for an old Sheffield?
I don't keep records on how many layers of tape.
    Always one!

I'm the same way, cept the old wedges. They's always two, and ya have to trim the excess tape off the sides of the blade, to just under the spine wear.

Exactly why I love to find the old regrinds, Mike.....
    Lots less work!

BTW, This behemoth is a bit noisy. That Sheffield steel kindof feel/sound.
Was super-easy to hone (After the bevel was set!).
Stropped and shaved quite easily. Like all was natural. A little fun. Close shave!
I suppose that has as much as anything to do with the perceived desirability.
Am stoked to have it going finally!

Nice, but I won't be buying another unless I get it for 10 bucks like you do!

Reinforces my 'better heavier blade than scales' preference!

One day I will learn how to do this. One day!

Man... I've been after one of those G. B.'s for a long, long time.
They seem to be rarer than winning lottery tickets.

    Maybe someday.

Thanks, Mitch! I would say all the same thing. Swooping and rolling along.
    Hone or camera.
