Wootz fixed handle razor with bone scales
This is a razor in Wootz steel, smelted by Krzysztof rusek, with the ingot forged out into a bar by me. The request was for a fixed handle razor. With razors like this I always make a set of scales that can be attached for storage or shipping.
The scales are made from buffalo bone. They are made in a such a way that the tang of the razor is ‘gripped’ in between the scales and held tight. When the scales are tied to the razor like this, it also can’t move back or forth. The spacers between the scales are pieces of stabilized burl wood with a bit of glow in the dark epoxy.

Thanked: 228I wonder how many others, besides myself, that really like fixed handle razors? Another nice one there!

Thanked: 4827Nice razor Bruno. The wootz really etched nicely.
Mike, it’s a love hate thing for me. I love shaving with them, not so much when it comes to stropping. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 228That is interesting as I find it easier. LOL. I currently have three of Brunos fixed handle razors and I find that I use them more than the standard straight razors. I also have a Brian Brown and a Joe Edson fixed handle razor and a kamisori that I also use. My Bruno's get more love lately though.

Snail Forge— Wootz Straight Razor
Bruno forged this particular razor for me and has done an amazing job. The razor is shipping soon, and in my possession in a couple weeks or so. Can hardly wait!
I am having Bruno forge and craft a custom kitchen knife from the same Wootz ingot which should be amazing as well. The knife will have a blade in the 8-9inch range with Wooly Mammoth bone handle.
I am very fortunate and appreciative to have Bruno commissioned on this special project. Thank you Bruno!
