Default Joseph Rogers & Sons dreadnaught

A Joseph Rogers & Sons 7/8+ near wedge with a fancy beveled spine and seldom seen dreadnaught point. The blade has been restored with a glazed finish and the scales are bone with a black horn wedge and brass beehive collars. The camel bone blanks and collars are from Austin Kennedy. Some before and in process pictures are included.

Pretty flawless. How thick are the scales?

I was wondering the exact same thing. Karl is the sensei of bone, whereas I'm just at the grasshopper/karate kid level. Beautiful restore as always, Karl!

edit: Just to add that I look to BOTH of you masters for inspiration in working with bone, Shaun (even though I've turned to wood for the time being).

The scales are .085 thick. My go to thickness for bone. As you know bone is very stiff and heavy. Thicker negatively effects the balance and function of the scales. Seems to be the thickness on most of the originals I have measured but I have found some as thin as .075.
