W. Gilchrist
W. Gilchrist was arrested and acquitted for treason during the Civil War. He also had an association with Wade & Butcher and I have seen numerous razors with the Gilchrist name and a Wade & Butcher trade mark. This fancy blade is 7/8 at the toe tapering to just over 6/8 at the heel. Restored with glazed finish blade faces and crocus finished arris spine and tang. The original scales retain a few bug bites but are very solid and have been re-dyed Black. A wavy bevel can bee seen on the show face side of the blade in a before picture caused by uneven factory grinding. This was corrected during the restoration. The back face bevel, although wide, was straight.

Perfection once again.
Keep this up Karl and I will be forced to take a trip from Massachusetts to Standish, Maine to take lessons and serve an apprenticeship.
