NOS Herder 76 in Bolivian Rosewood with Brass-Lined Wedge
I was going to do this NOS Herder 76 in Gaboon Ebony and silver with a bone wedge, but I just wasn't feeling it. As I had some nice 1/8" stock from my summer pilgrimage to Woodcraft, I decided to go with the Rosewood. And though I've got unfinished razor projects all around my bench, this one just spoke to me, and actually came together pretty easily since the blade was NOS and the wood only needed buffing and several coats of Ren Wax. She pinned up tight and centered in brass pins with brass cup collars.

It was nice to get in some shop time after a very stressful start-up. I will hone this one up soon, and have high hopes that it will be a superb shaver. Thanks for looking! A-Aron/SHDLast edited by ScoutHikerDad; 09-28-2019 at 07:08 PM.

Thanked: 4828I like the way you oriented the grain and colour changes. The blade of course is a beauty. I also appreciate your lined wedges.

Looks good! Hard to mess with rusty, pitted blades when you have a NOS Herder to scale.
An old blade with perfect geometry hones and shaves SO much better!
Or so I am told!

Thanked: 3228Good looking scales and a nos vintage blade that should shave butter smooth. I think you have a winner there.

Thanks, gentlemen-Now I find myself wondering what it would have looked like in ebony, silver and bone. Oh, well-guess I'll save that combo for another distinctive blade.

Oooh, pretty...shiny. Really nice! I like the scale shape at the pivot. Subtle and just a bit different. Well done
