7/8 CRONIDUR 30
Hello friends, today I have finished another piece. This time it's a razor for me. I got some pieces of cronidur 30, a stainless steel that I wanted to try. From images that I have seen of its carbides in a web of analysis of cutlery steels, it seems a suitable steel for shaving. After medium speed oil quenching, cryogenic treatment and two tempering at 180ÂșC, a friend measured the hardness of the blade, I was looking for 58-59 hrc and I did quite well. It is not a steel that gets very hard. I tempered two blades, both gave similar results, but I only have test images of the sister blade.
I have opted for a classic straight edge design, I usually do very hollow razors, but this time I wanted something with more weight, so I emptied the wedge blade, with a 350mm pulley. After tapering the spike I made some scales in cocobolo. I have already sharpened and tested it, it is very smooth, but I still have to make some adjustments to the blade, before I wanted to sharpen and see how it looked. Tomorrow I make it pretty.
