Thanked: 0Tang "sleeve"
I'm seeing pictures online of what looks like a sleeve over the tang on this Hayashi Diamond that I have (and have previously wondered about the notches in the scales, makes sense now). Is there a place to get a replacement? What material was it? I'm guessing rubber.

The scales were thinned on the inside. The material was, I think, injected rubber.

Thanked: 556Here’s a pic of a Puma with a rubber tang sleeve. Scales are notched the same as yours.
This photo is a before pic. I was able to fix the chip in the blade and clean up the staining.

Someone had found a little pencil grip which looked good. Gotta unpin the razor to put it on, of course.

Wouldn't that cause the blade not to close into the scales?

Scales are hollowed out to fit the rubber sleave.
Nice idea Tom and Richard. Ive never liked the look of those rubber things on the tang. To each there own! It's just Sharpening, right?
