Thread: Wade & Butcher Restoration

This W&B suffered a broken scale in the worst place at the pivot hole. The client wanted the scales saved and gave me free reign on the blade.
I made a brass plate and fixed the broken piece's with pins. This meant I need to fix a plate on the opposite scale also. It turned out pretty nice.
The blade was scared from a previous restoration and there was hone wear. Hone wear removed and given a mirror finish.
It now centers tightly, looks good and hopefully shaves well.

Looks good. The only thing that I would have done different is to match the 4 pins on the broken side on the one that wasn't.

Nice work. A fine looking piece. Im not too sure about the extra pins but its not a bad thing. Just different.

Concerning the odd number of pins, I wanted the fix to look like a home made bolt on job and I think it adds character and charm.. I think it will look better with some age.
