Thanked: 13245Interesting Custom Rescale
This was an interesting rescale
Switching to Kirinite from the originals
After popping the pin I found the weirdest set up I have seen in 17+ years of doing restores
There was a bearing washer glued with what looked like JB Weld
After cutting that off I find a 1/16 sleeve in a pivot hole that didn?t need it
Next I find that the tang is off
Hint: that is how you test it
Place the razor on a flat surface, press down on the pivot hole , Note the offset of the spine..
Flip it over and do it again, you can see that it is offset toward the front scale
After building the scales straight, I filed the inside of the scales to offset the bearing washers to oppose the error in the tang/spine relation
Fun fun
Thought some of you that are making scales might find this helpful
In general the older the razor the more likely to find an ?Off? tang
But they do happen in newer razors too
Look at the relation of the Spine in these next two pics
In this next pic you can see where I have filed under where the bearing washers sit, if you look real close you can see the front scale clearly toward the tail and even a bit of the back scale where I filed toward the point in relation to the pivot hole

Let’s also give credit where it is due and really counts
The grind is near perfect
Takes an incredible edge, and the Kasumi finish from my Nakayama with a Kita Nagura is just a thing of beauty
