Thread: Glamour Shots after her Makeover

She has a few issues but I have grown to love this restore.
Was really beat up when I rescued her; rust, pitting, rough scratched up scales were falling apart… she’s still not perfect but those imperfections are what makes this one special.

Wish I took before pix... but I guess its better she forgets her past…lolol.

Worchester Razor Co, Worcester Mass. 5/8+ (11/16) hollow ground wedge “Cobra Head” spike point, with black celluloid scales, white scale wedge… Brass pins, washers and bearings.

I had to disassemble her to polish the steel and clean the scales. She still has some tool marks but she is shiny. And the insides of the scales were polished. new parts; pins washers and bearings (all brass), opens and closes smoothly now… and tight.

The hardest part of this restore was the honing... though it's American, reminds me of Sheffield steel... really tough stuff!!!.

She has a slight bend at the intersection of the tang and shoulder (not a warp). The “bend” can be seen looking “down the barrel”… that is; looking from the tail down the spine towards the toe. She lines up perfectly with the scales though, and the blade is flat on the hone. The bend is sort of zigzag.

As for the shave… what a shave... there are many ways to judge a razor, how long for my stubble regrow, ease of the shave, and sometime its how well it gets the hard-to-reach- stubble under my jaw… this one… all the above.
