    Cool 73 Thank-yous SRP

I was left alone with Marlow yesterday afternoon while my wife went to her first yoga class since the birth. We shared some laughs, Marlow and I, and I got to give him the bottle for the first time in a few weeks as well. Changing diapers is nothing new to me (I was on that duty for a whole week before Mom did at all) and once that was done, I strapped Little Man into the carrier and out we set to pick up Validator from yoga, nice and early too so I could get a café Americano from the coffee shop. All we've had in the house since Val got pregnant is decaf and whenever I drink a cup it's just a tease and I can't relax until I sip one with caffeine. I'd made a nice breakfast of French toast with fresh strawberries and the wife wanted coffee so decaf she got and I got the itch for a real one. So, nice and early I set out remembering, for the first time in days, to check the mailbox on the way out. That's when I found it.

Inside was a George Wolstenholm & Sons 5/8 round point Canuck razor. The one pictured below. JMS grabbed the blade from Tanamack, Kenrup readied it for Kyle76 to adorn with beautiful ebony inlayed zebrawood stating Marlow's initials and birth date on opposing scales. The brass spacer even has XXVIII engraved into the end. Stunning. I shaved with it this morning and it is just great and so wonderful to have a razor which means something so special. Richardhead and the rest of you who had a hand in it, I thank-you every day that Morlow lives. That's 73 so far and counting. You guys are the greatest. Apparently, this whole thing happened right under my nose and I didn't even pick up on it (yeah, I found the link). Well done gang.

Oddly, I haven't given much thought to whether Marlow will grow to shave with a straight razor like his Papa until now, but it would be so wonderful if he did decide to join our ranks because I would love to pass this one down to him. I'm so honoured to be a part of this site. Evidence yet again that this is the most gentlemanly site in virtual space.

Peace and Love be upon you all,

    X

That was a nice gesture indeed.
If your son takes up straight shaving he is more than welcome on SRP.
Are there any threads you need cleaned up before your son sees them?

That razor looks great. Kenrup, JMS and Kyle76 are all gentlemen who donated their time and effort with joy.

In case it's not included, here is a picture of the engraving:

One day young Marlow will ask you to teach him to shave and I think it would be great if his first shave was with this beautiful razor. Then he passes it down to his son. A great family heirloom.

Awesome. Best of luck to you and your family.
