Joseph Rogers & Sons with hornscales
For this J. Rogers 5/8 i made my first selfmade hornscales. I bought a green hornplate and cut the scales. If you sand them wet, there are no problems with a bad smell.

That is why I don’t do horn or bone. They just stink too much so I keep to wood.

Beautiful design, well executed!!
I love the translucence of the material.
Where did you get the scale stock, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks a lot. I had searched a long time, until I found the hornplates in a size great enough for scales:
Rinderhornplatten
From this plate you can make 2-3 sets of scales.
