    Default 6/8 Hess #99 Restored

OK calling this a restore is almost cheating, I snagged this ugly thing off e-bay the other day, I looked at it and figured if worse came to worse, I would replace the scales, and hopefully have a nice solid blade... I couldn't tell to much from the pics, but at least the blade looked straight and looked as though it had very little wear...

This morning I figured I would do my normal alcohol dip and scrub and then work on it after going Trap shooting.... Well, all the crud started coming off, it wasn't rust it, wasn't patina, it was just crud, I used a parts brush and scrubbed it with the alcohol, then just plain soap and water...Under all that stuff was a NOS, never been honed, Hess Hair Milk Laboratories #99 Spike point that after a little MAAS and elbow grease looked like this...

It just came off the hones and I'll try out the shave in the morning, but from every indication on the hones, this thing should shave great....
Oh yeah an added bonus it has the original box
Ya never know when yer going to find that diamond in the ruff!!!!!!!
