A Granege Boston Mass with gun blue tang and spine in Zebrawood
I finally caught up on all my scale orders so I took a couple days to work on a couple of razors in my project box.
This is a A Granece 5/8 spike hollow ground razor but what makes it unique is that the entire tang as well as spine is gun blued and in immaculate condition. Most old razors with gun blue or gold wash suffer from degradation. Over time all that bluing or gold wash wares off. This bluing is completely intact, no bare spots, it looks almost new after a good cleaning. It was a little rough when I got it but after a little sanding and polishing on the blade it looks darn nice in my opinion. One side of the tang is stamped AMALFI and the other A Granece Boston Mass.
I decided to drop it in some Zebrawood epoxy resin scales. I decided to use a walnut wedge to go along with the dark bluing on the tang/tail and spine. I honed the blade this evening and it took a very nice edge. I am looking forward to using it tomorrow and adding it to the display case. I have one other blade with a gun blued tang and an engraved blade that proudly proclaims ‘Gun Metal’. I need to find that one and work on it.

Shaved with it this morning, it scores in the upper echelon of my razors. It equals a Dorko/Revisor/Henckel. It will defiantly be a regular shaver.
