Razor rework, and repair class,The results/AKA the blind leading the blind
One of our members asked if he could come here to see if I knew anything about fixing up razors, and if so could he steal some of my top secret methods, after scrutinizing his credentials, and bonafides I allowed him to come. Our fisrt 4 day session was last November, and we did basic repair, polishing, honing, and some scale work,Our second session has been this week and some of the things we worked on were Regrinding, scale making, premium finishes(EELL mirror, satin and brushed)and honing again. He has earned his diploma, and only has to pass his test on ritual testical shaving to be a fully certified Traveller Razor/Honemeister(There are currently only 7)..................Below are the results of our Ill spent four days.Remember Idle hands do the devils work
1)Greaves C1835/45 7/8 Wedge custom scales EELL mirror finish/Excellent shaver....reworked,and reground from a very corroded razor
2) Barlow C1850 7/8 Wedge custom scales EELL mirror finish/Excellent Shaver..........reworked,and polished from a moderately corroded razor
3)Dorko C1950 6/8 Satin Finish Extra Hollow Custom scales/very good shaver............reworked from a crappy badly corroded blade,we only reworked this one cause it had the nice spine work.I usually throw these away
4)Gilchrist Frame back C1860 5/8 Brushed finish Custom scales/Excellent shaver.........reworked from a moderately corroded razor
Well there you have it! our student has agreed to accepy half the blame for this work.he like me dosent like hollow grounds too much,so he will be selling the Dorko,it will make someone a very nice razor Best Regards Gary

License to polish 007
It sounds like a great time, by the looks of those razors everything must have gone very well.

Great work as usual. Please post pix of the ritual testicular shaving when you have them
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 17Beautiful work! It's nice to know that even the ugly, beat up razors out there stand a chance with craftsman like Gary (and his seven minions) around.

Aww...The Gilchrist looked so lovely with the triple-pinned, african mohagany and brass wedge. (I'll miss it.) But I do love the Barlow! Fantastic!
Everything from the Traveller shop is nice. (In fact, I'm waiting on two razors to return soon.)

Gary those are all beautiful and your "student" is a very lucky man to be blessed with the time he spent with you and those razors. I am truelly jealous.

I just deleted a couple of inappropriate comments because they were taking this thread R rated.

This is probably me just being really stupid, but I don't know so I have to ask, what exactly is an EELL finish and how is it achieved?
Kind regards,
Alex
