Thread: Wapi Scale Project - Preview

Here is a preview of my Wapi scales I just made. I made 2 exactly the same. I will post both as soon as I pin the other one. Bloodwood w/ Maple spacer and abalone inlay, finished in Tung oil and Renaissance Wax. These were a test for some ebony scales I am going to make for a Joseph Elliot Wedge, which I am going to put 4 inlays on each side starting from large to small dots.

Thanks you guys. The inlays were done with a dremel and a steady hand. Any mistakes, which were very slight, were covered up with homemade wood filler (elmers glue + sanded wood filings.) I make all my scales totally by hand + dremel right now. Takes longer but the investment is low and the satisfaction is high. Just a hobby right now. If I was going to start making them more frequently I would invest in some power tools. Been hand sanding a wedge blade for 2 days now...ughhh

Very nicely done and just remember that hand-sanding is great for building character!
