    Default A Brace Of Barbers

Just finished pinning my 2nd John Barber, The horn scaled one. The eBay 'before' photo belongs to it.
The other one I did six months ago & didn't keep the before shot. It wasn't in too bad shape but had busted bakelite scales so gave it some new Chinkapin Oak ones.

I did about 8 repair patches on the horn scales but the pivot pin area is the most obvious. Lucky the break was not at the pin. I like to repair non plastic scales but I find celluloid & bakelite are often too brittle to bother with especially on older razors. I've got some more oak so if they break I have a plan B.

Both razors are satin finished on a Scotchbrite buff but did a light patina on the recent one. Tried to keep it original looking .

    Hope you like..

No mills or lathes at my place just bags of washers
The oak one has 3 flat washers on the butt end, a #4,#2 & #1.... The others are domed #1 over a flat #2 and yes, domed at home. Just the 1/8 divot in the vice and a pin punch. Pretty agricultural down here.
I noticed a lot of the Sheffield wedges use larger than 1/16 rod so I've opted for .072" which works and is available but I really think they're 5/64, just can't find it easily down here.
