Thanked: 735Simple cherry re-scale
Simple set of cherry scales, stained, CA coat, countersunk hardware for my worked back Fernando Esser 5/8.
Shaved with it last night. Razor seemed to like the new scales--I'm still BBS!

Thanked: 31Wow. That really looks good. I've never seen a bad razor here, and this is no exception. How long did it take you to do it?

Thanked: 735I don't really know how long. I work on my sclaes here and there as I am able.
I cut out the blanks, and then they sit for awhile on my desk. I get some free time and I profile and sand them. They sit for a whlie more then I get the guts up to apply CA, then sand them. Make/find a wedge for them, counterbore the screw holes, etc...
I'm not sure what to say. If I say down and did it soup to nuts at one shot it maybe 2 hours?

Thanked: 31That's a lot quicker than I thought it would be on the total time. They really do look good.

Thanked: 735It may take longer, that's just an estimate. I've also had some experience in doing it. Maybe 6-8 sets so far?

Scales look great man.
I'm working on my first re-scale attempt right now, hopefully they turn out nice.

Nice looking scales Seraphim...I really like the cherry.
BTW, all this talk of CA...is there a special trick to it?

That was my post and I just finished my first set in CA. I was using Tung Oil before. There is no trick to it. It was pretty easy. Just read the second post on that thread and use the water thin CA.
