there is rustic patina on my whole lifestory lol, it's on everything I make.
These are about 4 years old air dried with sealed ends - you must do that. You could do it in a day or two (depending) in a hot box, but you have to be able to weigh it. experimentally. Or a year air dried works well for me. I bring it indoors to climate control and in a week + cut then ends off. if it doesn't end check within a week or two it's good. If it begins you reseal and keep it in your driest place til you feel like trying again.
Almost. Actually I kicked myself in the butt for not knowing the value a : small enough for scales branch : would have for me. each side has a 1/2 wedge carved out with the rest tapered toward the pivot and open side so the bottom is more closed off than with flat scales.
this one was about 1 inch diameter. A knotty twig would be perfect for a true one piece
