I love those scales. I have a piece of black linen micarta. Thank you for energizing me to work with them! I think they are fine without the finish. You've probably got plenty of finished scales, but none with the tactile sensation of that micarta.

I agree, the matte finish has a certaint tactile appeal. The acrylic is also a nice touch.
