"My" First Rescale
"I" did this one over the course of two days (day 2 was our get together) at JoeD's house and with extensive assistance from Joe.
The blade is a 6/8 concave grind with "R. Hovenden & Sons" on the front of the tang, "NEVA" in flowery all capitals on the back (might be more before that that is worn off), and "The British Razor" on the front on the section of the spine just above the hone wear. Scales are Lacewood; Joe provided all the supplies including the wood, and he did most of the work as well. Kept the original spacer, which is either lead or pewter. Domed washers (Joe's son showed me how to make those) and brass pins.
I hit the blade with some MAAS, but focused only on the tang since I was short on time and the blade was going to go back into her scales the following day. I will probably do a bit more polishing on the rest of the blade when I have more free time.

Nice pics Holli. There was so much going on towards the end of our meet that I didn't really get a good look at the pins. They came out really good and I'm happy you like the results. You really did most of the work on this beauty.

Thanked: 131Is there an outside chance that 'NEVA' was once part of 'GENEVA'?
Good work though. Its great to get your first one under your belt, innit?

Thanked: 131It is a british company. Was based in London way back (I did some research). The reason I say Geneva is because its the closest place with those initials in its name. Nevada arent known for their razors are they? Even if they are, Geneva is much closer. And I reckon its a place name because most razors (that I have seen) give some indication of place- be it where the steel comes from or where it was manufactured. The only exception to this that I have seen so far is the wapi, which is utterly unmarked.

Classy razor. Nice work
The domed washers look great too.The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I hope to have some time on the stones by the weekend, and with luck the shave will be as good as she looks.
